Research & Development

blueprint is an integrated media productions agency that prides itself in being situated on the cutting edge of digital technologies and interactivity.  As a result, research and development, and its implementation, is at the core of our business.

blueprint’s work is done by a team of producers, directors, editors, designers, graphics VFX, 2D and 3D animators, modellers, web coders and developers, and creatives.  Our work sits firmly in the space where video graphics and animation meet design and (interactive) digital capabilities.

Through research and development we continually investigate new techniques to embed functionality and interactive features into live video in online and offline environments.

Please see the links below for a selection of our 2013 R&D projects.

“My First 101 Words” App

Development on this blueprint driven project started in November 2012 but did not go into production until January 2013 and the interactive and educational video-based app was then launched in April 2013. “My First 101 Words” is blueprint’s first app under our own name and is designed to teach toddlers, non-English speakers and people with learning difficulties, their first 101 words in English and is one of the first apps to be based around video. To date we have sold over 2,400 of this app world wide.

EVCA

blueprint created an animation for the EVCA (European Venture Capital Association) and after a production process where we identified the communications and business objectives and target audience, we applied a specific design phase. Once the animation had been completed we distributed the video through our seeding strategy and the video can be found, on average, at number 3 in Google’s results for the search term ‘private equity’.

PotashCorp

blueprint used 3D and motion graphics to represent PotashCorp’s buildings and site layout and used steadicam technology to follow various employees through the underground mine, before showing the mineral being extracted and moved back above ground. Once above ground, we use video and animation the illustrate the stages of processing and then on to distribution. The site also utilises short interviews with various employees that the user can click on as we progress through the operation. With HTML5 technology the site is optimised for tablet usage while also being available on all other devices and monitors. The site is built so that it can be rolled out as a iOS / Android phone and tablet app with minimal fuss.

Platinum Group Metals

blueprint combined aerial video captured at Platinum Group’s development site along with our own 3D animation work, which layered the model over the construction site, to provide viewers with a ‘close to real’ visualisation of how the project will look once it has been constructed. The sequence is very dynamic, bringing in timelapse photography and other material while the animation shows the construction of the infrastructure in real time.
